Overview

Prairie Leadership Partners (PLP) is a North Dakota-based c4 organization focused on shaking up the political status quo with practical, community-driven leadership. PLP works to bring forward leaders from all walks of life who understand the values of our main streets—hard work, common sense, and looking out for one another. PLP is building a bench of leaders ready to stand up to radical agendas and put the priorities of everyday people first.

During the 2025 legislative session, PLP will focus on rebuilding a base of engaged and active leaders by providing comprehensive training and education on the legislative process. This effort will go beyond issue-specific events, offering practical guidance on committee work, meeting with legislators, and testifying effectively. These initiatives will form the foundation of our leadership pipeline and training programs, ensuring a sustainable network of advocates and leaders for the future.

Our Board of Directors

  • Ellen Linderman

    Carrington, ND

Ellen Linderman is a farmer and lifelong advocate for rural communities and family agriculture. She has held multiple federal appointments, including the USDA Farm Service Agency State Committee, the Senate Ag Committee’s Payment Limitation Commission, and the Federal Crop Insurance Board. Ellen served 12 years as a district director for North Dakota Farmers Union and Farmers Union Mutual Insurance. She was also a Democratic candidate for the North Dakota House, falling short by just 100 votes. Ellen completed her college degree at NDSU later in life and was invited to sit next to First Lady Michelle Obama as President Barack Obama addressed Congress about the Affordable Care Act.

  • Barbara Lang

    Jamestown, ND

After moving to Jamestown in 1987, Barbara Lang quickly became a force for good. A former banker from Valley City, she jumped into civic life—first through the Chamber of Commerce, later through the Jamestown Community Foundation, where she now serves as board president.

Lang has helped direct grants to local fire departments, arts programs, flood relief, and more. Her leadership extends across the community, including The Arts Center, Zonta Club, United Way, and the 1883 Courthouse Committee. In 2017, she was named Jamestown’s Citizen of the Year. Barb was also a Republican nominee for the North Dakota legislature, falling slightly short of her bid to serve in the ND House.

“You want to support the community you live in,” she says. “We are, in fact, cheerleaders for the community.”
